WineRev’s Good and Goofy Notes
Watch for WineRev’s G&G notes in the comments to see what others went through, struggled with, and surmounted in the past. His G&G comments are mini Good News Roundups. You can find all his comments here, even today’s, once he posts it. Tech Tip: You can search for >>> in Roundups to quickly find his comments.
WineRev, last Sunday:
I’ve never been to Seattle. Pacific Northwest. Often the Alaska Current brings chilled water along the coast while warm air moves over the top of it, creating clouds, mist, clouds, fog (which of course are just clouds taxiing on the runway), rain, clouds, and then come significant clouds. Now we are having an El Nino year, with some changes and kinks in the Jet Stream, so that here in the Upper Midwest, Seattle has moved in……..permanently. In Minnesota. The weather forecasters are bored stiff and have run out of ways to say, “Same Stuff.” Highs between 31 and 44. Clouds. Bare ground. Clouds. 7 inches of snow for the season (we should be at about 32 inches for an average winter). Clouds.
Still, the Gnuville Breakfast Brunch and Fog Wipe Lounge (Clouds) is nonetheless gallantly open for Good News. 2thanks has assembled an assembly of it (thank you for your work!) for this Sunday so that all of us can congregate to read, absorb and react to the items (Clouds). Naturally, the lighthouse beacons have been turned on for hours to pierce the clouds, while fog lights along roads, foot paths, bike trails and sidewalks all pierce the clouds for good footing for all you Gnusies. All these approaches have also been equipped with various fog horns giving off certain patterns of honks to guide travelers.
The coffee, tea and mocha-cocha are all on and hot (although, if you wear glasses, you’ll need to avoid the clouding/fogging of your eyewear during sipping.) The mimosas are tall and chilled (although, if you wear the Hawaiian shirts at the Bar, you’ll need to avoid the clouding/fogging of your thinkware during sipping.) And the Fog Wipe Lounge is open, with cozy nooks, cozy chairs, words of good cheer, cozy side tables, cozy pixels, cozy WiFi streams, all waiting for your comments, reactions, chuckles and extensions to other Good News links. The tall windows look out on…...clouds. But the walls of the Lounge this morning are imaginatively hung with pictures and art work scenes done in pale yellow lights, and with crisp, defined lines and shapes, showing a fantasy world where “days” have clear sight lines and “blue” atmospheres. Ah, the vivid imaginations some artists and photographers have…….
Science
Please share good science news with us! (Especially JSWT, health, environment.)
A good place to look for science news if you are waiting for the Sunday Roundup is the archive of Overnight News Digest. On Saturdays, the OND always focuses on science, though not all of it is devoted to what I would call Good Science News.
Need more good news?
… arhpdx posted a list of good news sites toward the top of a recent Roundup, or you can find that same list in my comment: Good News Sources. Thank you, arhpdx and Mokurai!

Our map of Gnuville: 858 of us have shared our global locations!
To leave your mark, please Reply in the comments to tljdk or the map-building comment. Please indicate only your general location, NOT street number and street. (Please persist, we are volunteers.)

You can use the map’s zoom arrows to resize the view and focus on your pin to find neighbors. Please note that the Google Map, though convenient to operate, is visually inaccurate because, among other issues, it enlarges North America and shrinks Africa [Maps present a distorted view of the world by kos].

Tech Talk for Kosacks
- Load-More Workaround: On a desktop or laptop, to banish the Daily Kos Load More buttons, click this link, which opens the main Daily Kos page and shuts off the Load More buttons at the same time. You must Reload any open Daily Kos pages. After that, you’re good to go, but you may need to come back here and click that link again in a few weeks. According to the DK Help Desk, the “Load More” option also resets the user back to the display of the old-style, React comments.
- Got a Daily Kos tech question? Let us know. No question is too basic.
- Solved a tech question recently? Please feel free to brag in the comments.

Our Roundup is almost open!
Thank you for fighting for truth and justice with all us Gnusies! 40% of our Readers don’t visit every day, 50% of us do, and 10% are here for the first time! We all do what we can. For 5 years, we’ve shared positive news, laughed, organized, resisted, rebelled, revolted without being revolting, relied, rested, mentored, created, crossed rivers, chewed our cud, puffed methane out both ends, and laughed. Here’s looking at you, kid, and standing upwind! Beginners, you are cordially invited to comment!
As always, please share more Good News than I can find or provide.
This is a group diary, and by my power I declare this Good Gnus Salo(o)n open! Let the good-news sharing and community building begin!
Power with, not power over ❤️ ✊ ❤️
2thanks (he, him)
