That’s what I think every Dem should begin any press or media event from now ‘till the election. Donald Trump is destroying our election process, he is the reason for doubt. If there’s any concern about the vote, it is because of him and not in (any) spite of him. His refusal to address the Russian cyber intrusions and in effect giving a wink and a nod to Putin’s continued interference should cause enough concern to force more action against Russian intrusion, but a cowardly GOP turns a blind eye, and gives the president another news cycle to confuse, distort and lie.
The attempted demise of the USPS however, even if the GOP want’s to gloss over it, is too important not to ride to the election. I love that public opinion is already forcing the pilferers and profiteers to make public statements that will be checked for accuracy and followed up with ferocity. Let them make claims of restructuring and simplification, but keep the narrative that they were just doing the boss’s bidding. Nothing else. The post office has been subjected to the most hobbling set of regulations ever applied to an entity of the government with the GOP led congress’s ridiculous demand the PO prepay 75 years ahead on employees pensions.
But, what is happening now is more like a nuclear monster movie, where no defence seems to deter the monster from falling back on one front but having another more bad intent and criminal connections in the shadows. There needs to be an outcry over the person and persons ‘appointed’ by our delusional emperor. Removal and destruction of government property isn’t restructuring unless you consider being put out on the streets, restructuring. No, this is direct sabotage of a Constitutionally required entity for the purpose of delaying election delivery to accommodate the president. DJT was allowed to cast doubt on the last election even though he was knee deep in allowing and using the Russian cyber attacks himself, and doing so with provable collusion with members of his cabinet and operatives in the election committee. We can’t let that happen without a demonstrations and righteous indignation.
Trump not only deserves to lose this election, he needs to be held responsible. Held responsible for the bad appointments. Responsible for the inhumanity rising around the world and for the insensitivity to he lives of millions of Americans being held captive to the whims of a megalomaniac. I would suggest that before Biden debate him, demand that DJT take a lie detector test to see if he can, tell the truth. Maybe Joe could remind everyone that the president hasn’t been too intent on telling the nation anything but glowing reports to his competence. Then Joe could mention the covid predictions, and mask evasion, and now the USPS, all with no input from Dems, debate in Congress or any effort to explain the necessity of his actions. Is that a difference of opinion or the effect of someone wrapped up in his very own reality.
Never before has any President spent so much public effort to cast doubt on an election. One might think that after DJT made the statement of purity, calling the US elections a ‘sacred’ opportunity, he would put at least a little effort into the Constitution’s defence. But, as the joint chiefs have testified, there have been no directives from the WH for efforts to combat Russian cyber incursions. Again that should be enough for an outpouring of disdain for an administration reluctant to be responsible. Responsibility should accompany any public official but especially the POTUS. The oath he swore at his inaugural address needs to be juxtaposed with his actions. He is purposely hindering the prompt, efficient of the mail for the purpose of benefitting himself in the coming election. He is publicly suggesting that there is malfeasance going on and blaming the Dems causing harm to the nation’s confidence in this election and priming his most nationalistic followers to prepare to begin a civil war at his loss.
If that sounds far fetched, maybe someone will turn it into a movie, right now it’s a living nightmare, and all I can hope is that we unite like never before in the next ten weeks and the nation awakens.
