List of ABC Advertisers with Contact Info

Wed Sep 06, 2006 at 09:32:12 AM PDT

Ok, everyone knows by now about ABC's propaganda piece, "The Path to 9/11" to run on Monday the 11th, on the 5th anniversary of 9/11.  Of course, we should be outraged.  And as another diarist noted, this is about a network using the PUBLIC AIRWAVES to spread outright right wing propaganda.

So, as I said in one of the threads, networks understand two languages: ratings, and money.  I am going to deal with the money part here.  Here is a list of companies that advertise on ABC.  I compiled this list from watching ABC over several hours and noting down the names of their advertisers, then googling for their websites and contact info.

Now, yes, it's true that ABC is running the propaganda piece free of advertisements.  But we need to make clear that it is NOT ok for advertisers to support this network at all - not during the airing of the propaganda piece and not ever.  If ABC runs this piece, the advertisers should abandon ABC, period.

This is an advertiser list.  For an extensive list of companies involved with the film and Disney's major shareholders, see highacidity's diary.

My list is undoubtedly partial, but this is the best I could do.  Not everyone will contact every advertiser here, so if you have to pick and choose, I suggest you use the following criteria:

1. Call the ones you do business with first.
2. Call companies that you have considered doing business with.
3. If you find a hometown company, call them.

Some pointers on the calls:

1. Be polite.
2. No need to threaten them.  Just politely but strongly register your objection and your demand that they pull their support of ABC.

Ok, that's it.  Now here is the list.  Have at it.

you put a lot of effort into compiling this list - if any of these advertizers have decided to buy spots during the airing of the docuganda special they should know that there will be consequenses.

Every single word of this is true!

I'm the proud owner of a 1998 Altima.  It's got nearly 150K miles on it, and the day is quickly approaching when I will need a new car.

I had always envisioned buying another Nissan.  I really like the Altima's and Maxima's new body, and I assumed I'd be buying one or the other.

A few weeks ago I went to Star Nissan in Illinois.  I met with a salesman, H---- Seyton (847 647 ----) and he showed me a few of the Altima models and options.  There was a specific color of grey that I was very interested in.  I was going to go over my finances, and I was looking forward to seeing if we could 'work out a deal'.

I hope you take me seriously here:  If ABC runs it's right wing propaganda, "The Path to 9/11", and if Nissan does not sever advertising relationships with ABC, then I promise I will never buy a Nissan again.

Call H----- Seyton...he's a great guy studying at Northwestern University.

Ask him if I was going to buy an Altima.

Then, after "The Path to 9/11" airs, and Nissan does not sever ties with ABC, call him again.

Ask him if I've bought a car from him.

    Thank you for your time.

I hope you see the serious nature of being involved in partisan politics.

    Thank You

Corporations are motivated by--and exist only for making--money.  Hell, let's threaten all of these advertisers with boycotts.

(Personal soapbox, off topic.  Even corporations don't fully UNDERSTAND money.  Doug Casey, the financial analyst and writer, says it best, when he notes that the U.S. dollar "is the unbacked promise of a bankrupt nation.")

I wrote, Jello, Subway, Kraft, Swifter, Kellogg, all the products that have been in my grandmother's, my mother's, my and my daughter's home for years.  I told them that they have been staples in our pantries down thru the generations.  That I would miss them, that I love their products, but I love my country more.

Thanks for doing this for us deaniac, thank you everyone for caring enough about our country to take the time to write.

I am a subscriber to your cable, internet and local phone service.  There are alternatives available and if you do not convince ABC not to run "The Path to 9/11" I will seriously consider the alternatives.   This is a piece of right wing lies intended to smear good people and exonerate the Bush administrations failures.  It is an attempt to re-write history and I will take action against advertisers who support this travesty.

    Re: Your advertising on ABC

As a major advertiser on ABC, I hope you will use what power you have to encourage ABC to NOT run the pack of lies they call "Path to 9/11". They are presenting as truth completely fictional scenes that bear no resemblance whatsoever to actual events. They claim it is based on the 9/11 Commission Report, but much of what they have in their "show" runs counter to the facts in the report.

The actual events of 9/11, and their causes, are fairly well known. This "movie" attempts to muddle fact with slanderous fiction. It mocks the truth and dishonors the memory of 9/11 victims to serve a cheap, callous political agenda.

I have been shopping at Sears with my mother and Grandmother since I was a small child.

In fact, having just bought a house, my SO and I are in the market for a new, upscale fridge, as well as a chest freezer. Sears carries some excellent products at reasonable prices, and has been at the top of the list as the place we will purchase these items.

If you are still advertising on ABC and they have aired their pack of lies about 9/11, Sears will no longer be at the top of our list - in fact, we will no longer be shopping at Sears.

Remember, we're new homeowners. Never owned a house before. We need things like a ladder, a lawnmower, yard tools, appliances, etc. - none of which will be purchased at Sears if you continue supporting ABC with your advertising dollars during and after their "presentation" of this farce.

    A once-happy Sears customer,
    [me]

Whoa, just added up how much we might have spent there - easily more than 5k in the next year alone, just on household stuff.

Actually, Sears has been annoying us the last couple years, and we'd been thinking we might just pay the extra $10-50 and buy the frezer from a local chain. But we have been running price comparisons with Sears, and with the right sale, we might have purchased there. Not likely to happen now, unless they pull their advertising from ABC.

Thanks to everyone who made a call or wrote an email.  Thank you for voting with your wallet.  The networks need to learn that the public airwaves are not their place to run propaganda.  And the advertisers need to learn that their consumers are also citizens who care about their country.

  •  Include how much you WON'T be spending with them (0+ / 0-)

(cross posted from Path to 9/11 - Big List of Action Contacts with Updates)

    -only where true, of course!

    Include information such as:

    • "We recently bought our first home and need to purchase (lawn mower, appliances, grill, etc.). If you continue to support this dreck, none of those purchases will be made from any of your stores." (Note: my own situation.)
    • We're planning a remodel of our (kitchen, bathroom, garage, etc.) and will be needing (cabinets, flooring, counters, sinks, appliances, roofing materials, etc.) If you continue to support this dreck, none of those purchases will be made from any of your stores."
    • "We're expecting our (first, second, etc.) child and will be purchasing (layette, crib, other furniture, strollers, clothes, etc.) in the very near future. If you continue to support this dreck, none of those purchases will be made from any of your stores."
    • "We're expecting a new grandchild and will be purchasing (lots of gifts) in the very near future. If you continue to support this dreck, none of those purchases will be made from any of your stores."
    • "We're planning a family vacation and our (daughter, son, etc.) has been begging us to go to Disney(land/world). As a result of your sponsorship of this pack of lies, Disney is no longer on our list of possible vacation destinations."
    • "I have owned a (car) for X years and always planned to continue buying X brand. I'm currently looking at new (car) and was arranging financing when your support of ABC's "Path to 9/11" was brought to my attention. Due to your support of ABC, I will no longer be purchasing a (car), and will instead be looking at (competitor's car)." (Saw a post in another diary here where someone sent a letter like this to Nissan, I believe.)

Let them know EXACTLY how much your displeasure will cost them. Eventually they'll start adding up all those $5, $50, $500, $5,000 purchases that won't be made- and they're going to see some big numbers - all money going away from them, and in many cases, to their competitors.

    Make it hurt.
