Gay CA Democrat, member of Daily Kos: Vice President Harris began her nationwide Fight for Reproductive Freedoms tour on Monday in Wisconsin with an impassioned defense of women’s right to choose an abortion…
The power of that speech was driven home to me by this line…
“The idea that someone who survived a crime that is violence to their body, a violation to their body and then would not have the authority to decide what happens to their body next, that’s immoral!”
ICYMU: This Week in Gnuville
In case you missed us: Miss a day or two? Need more Good News? Need respites from doom scrolling? New to Good News Roundups? Breaking the doomscrolling habit?
WineRev’s Good and Goofy Notes
Watch for WineRev’s G&G notes in the comments to see what others went through, struggled with, and surmounted in the past. His G&G comments are mini Good News Roundups. You can find all his comments here, even today’s, once he posts it. Tech Tip: You can search for >>> in Roundups to quickly find his comments.
WineRev, last Sunday:
Yet again the Minnesota branch of the Gnuville Breakfast Brunch and Aleut Heritage Lounge welcomes native Arctic people to the sub-tropical clime of “only minus one? Wow! Practically tanning weather! Pass the dried salmon…..” While we are supposed to break 20 Fahrenheit today and launch of string of 30s tomorrow it STILL cold out there. And the wind…charming…..is supposed to pick up sharply today. So while the Aleut youngsters are deploying and flying their kites over the Frozen Tundra of Green Bay Packer Nation (who last night…...alas…..dropped a close one in soggy San Fran 24-21) the rest of the arriving Gnus at the Gnuville Breakfast Brunch and Anemometer Museum are letting the weathervane exhibits blow softly across their open mugs of coffee, tea and/or mocha-cocoa to get them to just the right sipping temp. And, making full use of certain ones of those ice-encased museum pieces, the Mimosa Bar is chipping off the ice sheets wrapping their glitter around all the (supposedly) moving parts so that a) the moving parts can move, and b) the Mimosa Bar offerings will be genuinely sold as “Arctic Ice Chilled.”
The Lounge side wall now has the huge sheet of paper pulled off with dramatic tearing sound to reveal the number “10.” It is exciting, watching the Judicial Ruling calendar tick down toward January 31. After all, by then, with any luck at all A) New York Judge Engeron will deliver his judgment of just how many tens of millions of dollars (in cash; no checks, no gift cards) the Trump Organization will have to pay the State of New York for fraud violations. B) In DC, the federal court of Appeals will hand down its emphatic, no-stone-unturned, not-a-bit-of-wiggle room decision declaring Presidential Immunity ain’t nuthin. A nullity, vacancy, legal black hole---especially for anybody (not to name names) who claims ex-presidentially claims former President Presidential immunity applies to him for life and is necessary to protect insurrectionists.
Watch for those two Biggies! Meanwhile, there are comments to offer, digression to digress, clarifications to issue and chuckles to receive and send. So thank you 2thanks for opening the RoundUp for all of us and our spirits to enjoy.
Science
Please share good science news with us! (Especially JSWT, health, environment.)
A good place to look for science news if you are waiting for the Sunday Roundup is the archive of Overnight News Digest. On Saturdays, the OND always focuses on science, though not all of it is devoted to what I would call Good Science News.
Need more good news?
… arhpdx posted a list of good news sites toward the top of a recent Roundup, or you can find that same list in my comment: Good News Sources. Thank you, arhpdx and Mokurai!

You can use the map’s zoom arrows to resize the view and focus on your pin to find neighbors. Please note that the Google Map, though convenient to operate, is visually inaccurate because, among other issues, it enlarges North America and shrinks Africa [Maps present a distorted view of the world by kos].

Tech Talk for Kosacks
- Load-More Workaround: On a desktop or laptop, to banish the Daily Kos Load More buttons, click this link, which opens the main Daily Kos page and shuts off the Load More buttons at the same time. You must Reload any open Daily Kos pages. After that, you’re good to go, but you may need to come back here and click that link again in a few weeks. According to the DK Help Desk, the “Load More” option also resets the user back to the display of the old-style, React comments.
- Got a Daily Kos tech question? Let us know. No question is too basic.
- Solved a tech question recently? Please feel free to brag in the comments.

Our Roundup is almost open!
Thank you for fighting for truth and justice with all us Gnusies! 40% of our Readers don’t visit every day, 50% of us do, and 10% are here for the first time! We all do what we can. For 5 years, we’ve shared positive news, laughed, organized, resisted, rebelled, revolted without being revolting, relied, rested, mentored, created, crossed rivers, chewed our cud, puffed methane out both ends, and laughed. Here’s looking at you, kid, and standing upwind! Beginners, you are cordially invited to comment!
As always, please share more Good News than I can find or provide.
This is a group diary, and by my power I declare this Good Gnus Salo(o)n open! Let the good-news sharing and community building begin!
Power with, not power over ❤️ ✊ ❤️
2thanks (he, him)
