Three years ago I began this series of timeline diaries to track the progress of Trump’s corruption with Russia and his general crime spree. A lot of events have come and gone. The Mueller investigation produced more than a half dozen criminal prosecutions, but not a definitive answer on how beholding Trump is to Russia and it’s interests. We’ve had an Impeachment and attempted removal, We’ve had the chaos of the Kavanaugh confirmation. We’ve had a refugee crisis at the boarder which has turned into child separation, concentration camps and forced hysterectomies. We’ve had a devastating pandemic which has tragically killed 204,000 of us, far more than any other country on the planet all because of Trump and Kushner’s bullshit. We’ve had the explosion of the Black Lives Matter movement and the counter movement of Supremacist Proud Boys and Boogaloo Bois chasing the phantasm of “antifa.”
Now we have an election upon us, and this is where the gaslight gets thick. We have false claims of ballot harvesting even when Trump’s hand-picked FBI Director says there has been no widespread voter fraud using mail-in ballots — ever.
According to the Brennen Center Trump’s own “voter fraud” commission failed to deliver any credible evidence of any such fraud.
In 2017, members of President Trump’s doomed voter fraud commission relied on a Heritage Foundation database that claimed to contain evidence of approximately 1,100 instances of voter fraud.
The Brennan Center analyzed this database and found that the claims were “grossly exaggerated” and “devoid of context.” There were only 10 cases involving in-person voter-impersonation fraud and only 41 involving noncitizen voting. Put in context, the think tank inadvertently undermined claims of widespread voter fraud. In the period covered by the database, which stretched back to the Truman era, more than 3 billion votes were cast in federal elections alone, along with many more in state and local elections. Thus, the cases identified in the database made up an infinitesimally small portion of the overall number of votes cast. Less than seven months after its inception, Trump’s voter fraud commission was disbanded.
Yet despite these mail-in voter fraud claims being baseless, Trump has repeatedly stated that if he loses, he likely won’t concede the election. He’ll sue. He’ll cry, whine, piss and moan while squatting in the White House like a vagrant. He’s counting on confusion, he’s counting on uncertainty, and he’s counting on packing the Supreme Court with his hand-picked crazed conservative cult-member Judge, Amy Coney Barrett.
The ending of this series is going to get interesting.
