Welcome back to the odd and whimsical poetery of the Peeps related to holidaze! Let’s investigate what today is, because we need all the holidaze we can celebrate, right?
Lately, every day seems to be many holidays! Which is good, because we all have our favorites. So I will pick out a couple, and you can click the link above if you’re curious about the rest. This is an open thread, so please feel free to add your favorite pomes and photoes and holidaze for today in the Comments!
Today is Dreams of Reason Feast Day
Dedicated to discarded scientific theory and science fiction futures
Is anyone else thinking Star Trek? No, we will not be wearing mini-skirts in space!
space oddity
This is Major Tom to Ground Control
I'm stepping through the door
And I'm floating in a most peculiar way
And the stars look very different today

Interestingly, whilst searching for lyrics, I came across a comment that stated that Bowie wrote a sequel years later: Major Tom is not lost in space, he cut off his radio on purpose and reestablishes communication in the sequel!
[David Bowie (1947-2016) was “one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century”. “Space Oddity” was the first of his songs to hit the top 5 in the UK in 1969. More at Wikipedia.]
Today is Also National Dolphin Day
The National Dolphin Day 2020 date of April 14 is mostly observed in a country like the United States of America. People make it a day of fun to celebrate these wonderful and majestic creatures and educate people who do not have much information about them by showing a documentary. People also wish Happy National Dolphin Day to each other and their loved ones.
How have I never seen this video before?

by Robert Lowell
My Dolphin, you only guide me by surprise,
a captive as Racine, the man of craft,
drawn through his maze of iron composition
by the incomparable wandering voice of Phedre.
When I was troubled in mind, you made for my body
caught in its hangman’s knot of sinking lines,
the glassy bowing and scraping of my will….
I have sat and listened to too many
words of the collaborating muse,
and plotted perhaps too freely with my life,
not avoiding injury to others,
not avoiding injury to myself —
to ask compassion… this book, half fiction,
an eelnet made by man for the eel fighting
my eyes have seen what my hand did.
[Robert Lowell (1917-1977) was a Pulitzer Prize-winning poet “with powerful handling of meter and rhyme” who “changed the landscape of modern poetry”. He was also anti-war, a conscientious objector during World War II and a Vietnam War protestor. Read more here.]

PWBPeeps is a group that posts a daily diary and nightly open thread for animal lovers. We share photos, seek & give advice about pet health and behavior issues, support each other in times of sadness and stress, celebrate together when times are good, and on most days have an inordinate amount of fun.
You are welcome to join us!
Here are a few not-too-onerous PWB rulez
Violate ‘em and we’ll say that you drulez
- Do not “Troll” the Pootie Peeps Diaries. If you don’t like animal diaries, there’s no need to tell us about it. Just go find some other diary more to your liking.
- Whatever happens in the outer blog STAYS in the outer blog. As in, no pie fights. This is a place to relax and play; please treat it accordingly.
- If you would like a pic from the comment threads, please ask the poster. He/she may have a copyright to those pics. Many thanks!
- There are some pics we never post: Snakes, creepy crawlies, any and all photos that depict or encourage human cruelty toward animals. These are considered “out of bounds” and will not be tolerated.
- If you’re not sure about an issue...please ask. Someone is always glad to help.
